About the Conference

The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and the Colleges of Arts, Engineering, and Information Technology at the University of Bahrain are honoured to invite you to submit your manuscripts to the 1st International Conference on Digital Humanities (HDTC’2026): Humanities and Digital Transformation: A Future Vision, October 13- 14, 2026. This conference provides a critical platform for examining how digital transformation is shaping and reshaping the various fields of arts and humanities. It also aims to stimulate and facilitate discussion among scholars, educators, decision-makers, and practitioners to explore how digital innovation can be paired with and implemented in the humanities. Drawing on theories of digital media, culture, and education, the conference explores how digital platforms are not neutral tools but cultural systems shaped by economic, political, and ideological forces. Our conference situates AI within broader theoretical debates about automation, authorship, and cultural production, examining it as both a tool for knowledge production and a mechanism that may reinforce standardisation and efficiency-driven logic. These topics are explored alongside digital humanities initiatives, which also play a crucial role in preserving and promoting cultural diversity, yet they operate within global digital infrastructures that privilege certain forms of knowledge and visibility. Social media and digital platforms are examined as contemporary extensions of the culture industry, shaping storytelling, design, literature, and public discourse, and raising important questions about authority, representation, and cultural power in the digital age.
